Entered service at age 14 in London. She was in the NAAFI during Dunkirk, and worked as a live-in housemaid at Sansbury's (in London?). There she met Les, who was a salews assistant.
Edena signed on to a munitions factory to help the war effort. The TNT was destroying her skin and her healtrh, and the rules did not allow her to resign unless she married. She and Les married to get her out of there.
She and Les loved each other deeply. She missed him horribly when he died.
