James McLauchlan

 

POUGHKEEPSIE - James McLauchlan, 90, of Poughkeepsie, passed away April 26, 2014 at the Lutheran Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in W. Wemyss, Scotland on January 14, 1924, the son of James T. & Jessie Christie McLauchlan. James married Eliza K. Corns on January 19, 1946 in Methil Hill, Scotland. They both came to the United States on June 30, 1962. She predeceased him on November 11, 2009. While living in Scotland he was a Master Mechanic in the coal mines. When he came here he worked as a Mechanic for N.Y. Trap Rock Quarry in Poughkeepsie, NY and retired in 1987. He was a life member of both the Dutchess County Scottish Society and of K of C #304 Florentine Council. During World War II he was a member of the Home Guard in Scotland from 1939-45. James enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include his son & wife: James & Kathleen McLauchlan of Liverpool, NY; daughter: Margaret "Margo" Schumacher of Hyde Park, NY; son: Henry McLauchlan of Wappingers Falls and son & partner: Charles McLauchlan & Rose Elena Marino of Highland, NY. Grandchildren include: Brian, Shonagh, Meghan, Tom, Christian, Kelly and great-grandchildren: Ryleigh,Connor and Eliza. There are nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by brothers: Tom & Andrew McLauchlan; sisters: Jean Rogers & Jessie Cepok and his son-in-law: Robert Schumacher. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 23014, 4-7PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H., Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 2 Jefferson Plaza, Ste. 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 in honor of his belated wife Eliza.
